about

"mad science" originally came out in 2004 and was recorded between Spring 2002 and Winter 2003. This is what got the ball rolling with my career. It changed everything for me.

When I look back and realize it's been 16 years since this came out, I can't believe it.

Music has a way of time-stamping itself to the period in which it was made. When I listen to this, i hear a lot of things. I wasn't quite the musician I am now. I had a lot of firepower on bass at this point but hadn't totally become "me" yet--and you can hear that. You can hear how I wanted to somehow forge my various bass influences (Marcus Miller, Matt Garrison, Jaco, etc) into my own unique synthesis of all of the traits of those players which spoke the loudest to me. Over time, and especially if you listen to my second album that was released 9 years later "Steve Jenkins &The Coaxial Flutter" (which is also available here) my approach became more organic and more my own thing.

In any case, here it is once again.

***Also, there are 2 live tracks from 2006 featuring David Fiuczynski on guitar and Dana Hawkins on drums.***
